Check Your Thryoid
You may want to check your thyroid, or iodine
intake. Over or underactive thyroid producing hormones creates
an imbalance that causes hair loss. Its easy to have a doctor
give you a blood test to measure your hormone levels. If you
notice hair loss with accompanying fatigue, coldness, brittle
nails and dry skin, make sure to get to your doctor and have
this treated. Balancing the hormones that your thyroid produce
should stop your hair loss, and other symptoms.
Pregnancy also causes hair loss. Make sure that
you're taking your prenatal vitamins, they are so important,
and of course eat a healthier diet with vitamin rich fruits
and vegetables. You may also experience some hair loss a few
months after the delivery. This is normal as well.
If you're hard on your hair, this can also cause
hair loss. Ponytails, cornrows, anything that tugs on your
hair. If this is continued until the the scalp is scarred,
you may experience permanent hair loss. So be nicer to your
scalp, and release some of the tension. Hot oil, permanents
can cause the follicle to swell and also scar the scalp causing
hair loss. Give your scalp a few months to relax, if youre
noticing excessive hair loss.
Depending on the type of hair loss you're experiencing,
there are many hair loss treatments. If an illness, infection
or medicine causes your hair loss, your doctor may correct
this problem with medicine. Over the counter medicines like
Rogaine can be purchased and easily used. There are other
hair loss treatments that your doctor can prescribe as well.
Make sure to give it some time. It might take as long as 6
months to see a positive effect. |
