Acne. Whats the Cause, and Is there a Cure?
It may be a mystery to you that
you could possibly have acne in your adult years. Wrinkles,
Gray Hair, AND ACNE? I've said it a million times myself,
how is this fair? When I think of acne, I think of my teenage
years. But I didn't have acne then. So many of the kids that
had acne back then, cleared up nicely, so why am I afflicted
with acne now?
Adult Acne is surely frustrating, and can lead
to more serious complications. If you have tried every type
of acne skin care product, acne cream, or remedy and still
have not come up with their solution for adult acne, read
on.
This is probably due to the fact that there
is no real known causes of acne. Well, there are a few. It
is believed that adult acne may be caused by hormones, stress
and diet. But, theyre finding out that chocolate does not
cause acne. So whats the deal?
Did You Know?
Did you know that the number of people who suffer
from adult acne is shocking. Statistics show about 25% of
the adult population have adult acne.
I know personally that hormones do cause adult
acne. For my female audience, I would break out badly, once
a month right at that certain time. I also know, that stress
is a major factor, because my adult acne did not begin until
I had my son. You women know that raising a child is just
as stressful as any darn thing, and the stress is constant.
So how do you treat this thing, and what are
the implications if you let acne go untreated?
Whether acne starts during adolescence and remains
into adulthood, or simply strikes after the age of 20-30,
even sometimes at the age of 40, the physical and emotional
effects can be long-lasting and cause difficulty.
Dermatologists say that adult acne is even more
expected to leave enduring scars because as the skin ages,
it loses collagen. Because of this, acne prone skin is less
likely to recover, and the scars are less capable of healing
as they would in younger skin. Physical scars aren't the only
ones left by adult acne
Psychological scarring can be more difficult
to trace, and sometimes harder to deal with because of the
misconceptions that go with them.
For example, you may believe that the emotional
effects of adult acne are easier to deal with because adults
are able to accept the condition better than teens. In reality,
the ramifications can be more severe, because acne is thought
to be a condition specific to teens. Even though we know this
isn’t the case, many people are often afraid to admit
they have adult acne and fail to seek acne treatment.
As perceptions are shifting, and more people
are recognizing acne as a problem not only among teens, but
also among adults, more people are going to dermatologists
for treatment.
Many adults are now seeking relief from prescribed
medications as well as from over-the-counter products to treat
the condition. Sales of these products have increased, along
with the awareness of adult acne.
Because adult acne is reported to be on the
rise, doctors are now starting to consider the special causes
and unique effects of this condition on older patients. As
public awareness continues to increase, people may be more
likely to seek treatment.
The wealth of information is now available about
adult acne can also help people afflicted with this condition
to better understand it and how to combat its problems. More
care is also being given to the psychological effects of adult
acne. Because adults, like teens, are often affected by what
those around them think and how they are perceived, many often
stray from attending social events. Understanding what is
causing the adult acne is key to its treatment. If the physical
problems are treated, the social and psychological ones can
be as well. |
